Boro bid for Hoyte has been accepted. Boro wanted the right-back as a replacement for new Aston Villa recruit Luke Young, who was sold at the weekend.

Chief executive Keith Lamb told Middlesbrough's website: 'We have agreed a fee with Arsenal and we have now been given permission to speak to Justin, which we will be doing in the next 24-48 hours.'

Hoyte has found it hard to win a first-team place at Arsenal, having made his debut as far back as 2003. He spent the 2005/6 season on loan at Sunderland, Boro's North-East rivals. Last season saw him drop further down Arsene Wenger's pecking order after the signing of Bacary Sagna.

I dont like this. We played Hoyte in the pre-season. As a right back and also as center back. He was our backup for both position and depth in the squad. in addition, he is arsenal through and through. Why sell when the squad is already so thin!?!?!

i think arsene has someone that he gonna sign and needs the money for it. hoyte didn't really impress me though and i don't mind if arsene offload him. we have sagna and eboue at right back. kolo can be played there too as it was his position during his early days at arsenal. i think arsene is going to sign a defensive midfielder. in the website he said "Will something be done ahead of the second leg? really2 wondering on who will be the next arsene's signing. The person that in my mind right now is gareth barry because his picture appeared once in a article (arsenal's website) about who's the next signing for arsenal

Hoyte may not be the best RB or CB but he is the fastest guy in our team. He clocks 10. ++ for a 100 m sprint.

He is also very loyal to the club.

Mind you, i dont want to play him all the time but at 23 years old, I think he is a good backup player to have while the odds are down or later in the season when suspension and injuries becomes more acute.

Besides, if we sell anymore, we probably have a youth team left to play in the BPL.

REally really hope Wenger buys someone!

i dont like Hoyte, but i can agree with Coolman that we shd buy first before selling anybody else.

Wenger dont have to sell J.Hoyte but can loan him out.This is bad call at all.We are eaning millions selling him..
