Newcastle bids for Arsenal's Senderos

It is being reported this morning that Newcastle United have placed a £4million bid for the Arsenal defender.

Senderos is only a squad player at the Emirates and only made 14 appearances last season, but the Swiss International played all his country's games at the Euro2008 tournament.

Keegan is desperate to reinforce his back line and he is hoping that Senderos can bring some stability to his defence and build up confidence with an extended run of first team football.

"Hopefully over the next week or two there will be one or two new faces in," Keegan said on Newcastle's official website.

"We've got no cover for right or left-back at the moment and that's probably the two most important areas."

The Mail on Sunday says that Arsenal are believed to be considering the opening offer but are said to be hoping for £6million, so negotiations are at an early stage.


A good news...Please sell him, Wenger, but please dont forget to buy another defender...

If he is to be sold, the timing must be perfect. At the moment, we are way short of experienced CB. And after the selling of Hleb and Gilberto, it is really time to buy instead of sell.

M.Richards would be good in the back ,...not a very expirienced defender but strong and know what he's doing

Micah richards would be good.He's young & hungry for success too.Futhermore, he's english.
