He is going, he isn‘t going, the future of Cesc Fabregas appears to change almost daily.

I have to admit I was worried yesterday when reports surfaced about his apparent unhappiness at the club and his frustration at the clubs ‘Impotence’. He also quoted Ronaldo who said he had won everything he could in England, words that are bound to rouse jealousy among the ‘have nots’ across the country.

The thing is I couldn’t really complain about his comments. Arsenal have been stuck in a rut for a good few years now and if Cesc did decide he wanted to leave I wouldn’t have blame him. However looking at the headlines today it appears his comments to the Spanish press have misconstrued and lost in translation – or twisted to make headlines by the English media! Today he has re-affirmed his commitment to the club speaking of his ‘deep desire’ to win things with the club.

In this modern era loyalty is a too rare an occurrence among footballers. However so I think Cesc’s comments must be applauded, however I don’t think we can rely on it for too long. Another season of failure and I think he will look for a move to Real or Barca, it is amazing how things can change in football. Discontentment can spread and if Cesc leaves then it could start off a chain of players looking to move on. I hope the clubs hierarchy see this as warning and get a move on this summer. Thomas Vermaelen is a step in the right direction but it he isn’t the solid holding player of that goalscorer we are craving for. Here’s hoping our captain’s show of commitment will help lure those players to the club and we can go all out for success next season.

Fabregas will stay for next season. Not sure what will happen after next, but we got to win something as he stated.
