Arsenal appeals Vermaelen red card. is it a smart move? 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 3
On Monday evening the Football Association released the following statement: “The FA has received a claim for wrongful dismissal from Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.

“Vermaelen was shown a red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity during Arsenal’s match against West Ham United on Saturday 20 March.

“A Regulatory Commission will hear the claim on Tuesday 23 March.”

Does anyone know if his ban will be increase if we fail our appeal? I thgt we shd just take the one game ban and forget about it. A dangerous game to play if he gets more game bans.

hmmm... quite a good question.
Will they increase the ban?

Anyway, i think we need the referee support if we want the decision reversed. However, the referee does not seem to think that it is a dive by Franco. By all accounts, there was a slight push by Verminator. Whether or not it is a heavy hand or just a slight brush against the striker, only the players will know.

I dont think we shd spend too much energy pursuing this but maybe Arsene knows how important Vermaelen is to the defence.

Good Luck! Hope we can get the decision reversed.

I completely agree with you, man! Let's not spend too much energy on this!

given the fact minimal contact was made, at it was no more than a yellow card offence, and the ball was loose, i doubt it can be considered that the west ham player would have got to the ball, i think there is a fair chance of it being overhauled.
