Don Garber, the Major League Soccer commissioner who has been one of the main forces behind the rise of American soccer, expects his compatriot Stan Kroenke to complete a full takeover of English club Arsenal.
Despite Kroenke increasing his stake in the London club to 28.7 per cent last week, sources close to Arsenal continue to insist that the American has no intention of trying to take full control of the club. Indeed, Kroenke is seen by the Arsenal board as a buffer against the more aggressive plans of Uzbek billionaire Alisher Usmanov, the club's second-largest shareholder
Not sure how true this is but definitely better than Usmanov.

Stan Kroenke has purchased another 427 shares in Arsenal's parent holding company, at a cost of some £3.6 million, as the American edges closer towards the takeover threshold.
The Denver-based sports magnate is now the largest individual shareholder in the Gunners, with a stake of some 29.6% after acquiring more stock from the estate of the British industrialist Ernest Harrison. Should Kroenke, or indeed anyone else such as second-largest shareholder Alisher Usmanov, reach a figure of 29.9%, they would, under the City's financial regulations, be obliged to launch a formal takeover bid.
Looks like Stan is going to be the man...
