today we kick off our first match of the season at emirates stadium versus Athletico madrid. With 2 heavy weight transfers our team is a bit light and yet there is no sign of a defensive midfielder.
however,Tomas Rosicky is set to play at Emirates Stadium this weekend for the first time since January 2008.
The Czech midfielder featured against Barnet in mid-July after recovering from a troublesome injury to his hamstring tendon. But only an appearance on his home ground will fully complete his comeback. That is set to happen on Saturday at the Emirates Cup.
Gael Clichy is also in line to play his first game of pre-season but Theo Walcott, Kieran Gibbs and Abou Diaby will all miss out.
“Gael Clichy and Tomas Rosicky will play but Abou Diaby will not be available,” said Arsène Wenger at his pre-tournament press conference on Friday. “He should play at Valencia because he has a little knee problem.
“Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs are not available because they have only had four days of training.”
I am hoping for an Arsenal win but i thik it will be a close on
2-1 to the ARSENAL

Glad to see Rosicky back and certaily will be interesting to see if Eduardo could make it upfront once again.He's such a huge skill player.

Jose Antonio Reyes is back in the colours of A.Madrid. He has openly praised this Arsenal team and say we are on the rise. Cant say so much about his career though....
But well, good to have an ex-gunner back just for old time sake.
For us to make a statement for the new season, I hope we win the Emirates Cup!

forgot to add, Eboue, Denilson and Bendtner are also starting. Weird look to the team. Not sure how many of them will be our first team in the new season.
