2-2 and then they just throw it all away...

Plain stupid, nothing else to say.

How can they let them score those goals, so irritating.

And just hate Liverpool so much at the moment, the way they play and the way they get through for the next round - is in my opinion without the sligest trace of grace.

It was NOT a penalty! the referee gave them the win!

Senderos in my opinion AGAIN is that he will never make it at the top. He is just too slow. If Toure was marking Hypia or Torres, both Liverpool goals would have been stopped.

The final score should have been 2-2 and we would have gone through. It is unbelievable that we would have been denied 2 penalties and then the referee giving them one in this trilogy.

Walcott should be given more playing time as he has shown himself to be capable of being the next Henry. What a scintillating run that lead to Ade's goal!. imagine the difference he could have made if he started earlier....

sigh... sad to say, the rest of the team looked tired. Fabregas was a pale shadow of his springly self at the start of the season. Gilberto was trying but just not as strong or energetic when he replaced Flamini. Clichy was runnning and running but he really looked tired. back to the same point of a need for a bigger squad... well, Wenger, are you reading this? If so, PLEASE PLEASE Spend! we have the money.....

i guess the final nail is in for this season. No trophies look likely for now.......

But we must at least finish the season on a high. Lets aim for 5 more wins in the league!

i also think it is not a penalty! blatant cheating!

angry and sad at the same moment. was praying so hard that Almunia save the Gerrard penalty.

next season? i hope Flamini signs. We miss him a lot after his departure.

excuse my language... this is F*&^ING SH*&!! what a roller coaster ride. win, draw, lose and then draw and WILL Be Through... then F*&^ing UNREAL penalty and then despair.

Will we recover from this emotional ride?
Shabby defending all nite. I cant believe the amount of space Sami and Torres got when they got their goals. We need Toure back in the center of defence.

Adios to our season.

Hey, Liverpool fan in peace.

I like Arsenal. I think you play some amazing football and thats the way I want Liverpool to play. I aint a huge fan of Rafa. We get some amazing results in the CL but the way we play at times is not the way I like to see my team play.

As for this tie I think last week u should of beat us. U should of had a penalty and if it wasnt for Bendtner u would of won. Last week was a prime example of what I dislike about rafa. We didnt try to win the game last week and set up not to get beat.

Last night u guys started the game in great form. First 25 mins it was men against boys. We couldnt get near u lot and u were passing and moving like u can.
Fantastic goal from diaby. Really good football which lead to the goal.

I didnt like the way we set up. Gerrard and Kuyt and are not wide players and we had no balance in midfield. The Hyppia goal was a big goal as it dragged us back in the game. We didnt look like scoring and it was such a big goal. To be honest I am surprised Sendros is still at Arsenal. He has never progressed and still makes the same mistakes. He isnt comfortable enough on the ball for your team and last night was awful defending. He wasnt even looking at the ball for the Hyppia goal.

That goal and Flamini getting injured changed the game. Our midfield were coming more and more into the game. Gilberto isnt as mobile as Flamini and doesnt cover as much ground.

2nd half u guys were showing your fatigue. Before the game I though we would nick it 2-1 just cos I think your big players are on there last legs. Fabregas looked tired and we were seeing a lot more of the ball. Eboue should of done better when he got into the box past reina. His another player who to me isnt good enough for your side. His decision making at times is shocking and last night he could of just rolled it to Adebayor in the box. The Torres goal was a great finish from just a long punt up field. He should never of been given so much space but was a terrific finish. By then I thought it was it as I thought u were to fatigued to make another final push. After Adebayor missed that chance (should of took a touch) I thought we were home and dry.

Walcott's run was immense. Aurelio should of took him out but great pace, control and balance. 2 - 2 and I was devastated as I thought we were out then.
The penalty was harsh. No doubt it was a soft penalty. In real time I thought it was a penalty but from the replay's it looks like Toure coulsnt really do anything. He tried to avoid contact but couldnt and it looked accidental. His only fault was allowing Babel to get in that position.

I aint one to gloat as I dont do all that smug football fan crap. I appreciate expansive attacking football and enjoy watching arsenal play. Before Wenger I used to hate u lot as I thought then u played awful stuff. I dont think we are better than you and I got huge respect for Gerrard who in the interview didnt gloat and say we were the better side when he was asked.

I hope u can win the league but it will be difficult. I admire what Wenger is trying to do but he has to buy more depth for the squad. In the modern game its impossible to challenge on all fronts without the strong squad. If your big guns could of got more rest I think u would be top of the league.

Hi liger05,

Thank you for your long and honest post.

Indeed, our fatigue came into play. Also, a lack of great 2nd string players brought about our failure. Third point is that Senderos really cannot be our center back because of his pace. both goals were a result of his lack of pace on the turn.

Walcott is indeed coming into play but we waited 2 years plus for him to blossom....

We have been waiting for 3 long years for trophies. Maybe we can get one finally (but that is over-optimistic thinking)

Cheers to Friendship!

p.s: ever consider supporting the gunners?

A note from the frozen north.
Well played gunners, anyone up here who says they were'nt terrified is a liar!
Some of the one touch stuff was a joy to watch even if it was from behind the couch. The result ? typical cup football, you dont always get what you deserve and it could of and did go either way a couple of times.
I was there in 89 when michael thomas broke the hearts of a very brave (and better) liverpool team in the wake of hillsborough and it hurts .but the legacy of sheffield is thats its just a game of football and lifes better, maybe someone should have a word with Arsene, a well done would have been enough.
lets keep chasing the mancs, they ARE the yardstick
onward and upward, till next time take care

ha ha. 26 now but when I was about 12 my uncle would take me to highbury and buy me and my bro arsenal tops with the Number 8 and Ian Wright on the back. Was never interested though. I think he finally got the message when we sat in the clock end and me and my bro was cheering on Liverpool.

Isn't it strange that Wenger likes Sendros? Wenger has always seen pace as a must have attribute when he signs players and Sendros isnt blessed with any.
